About the Journal

 VISION STATEMENT

The Faculty of Art and Design is initiating the broadly-based Research Journal with the name of the Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of University of Home Economics (UHE). The aim is to improve the quality of research through innovative ways of creating new knowledge for the benefit of society on local, regional, national and international level. It is putting forth the best of its efforts and potential to foster a culture of academic freedom and independent scholarship.

OBJECTIVES OF ART, DESIGN AND CULTURE RESEARCH JOURNAL OF UHE

  1. To engage in the study of humanities and social sciences and motivation, of the people of various regions of Pakistan and abroad.
  2. establish undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate degrees and other programmes in the relevant discipline in accordance with the standard and requirements of the University of Home Economics has established.
  3. promote cooperation in inter-disciplinary relationships with other universities, teaching and research establishments.
  4. arrange conferences, seminars and refresher courses for the development of teaching and research; and
  5. promote teaching and research in particular subjects assigned to it by the Punjab Government in consultation with the University of Home Economics.

ABOUT ART, DESIGN AND CULTURE RESEARCH JOURNAL OF UHE

The research journal Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE places special emphasis on original contributions of researchers to the discipline of Humanities and Social Sciences. Art, Design and Culture (ADAC) publishes original, peer-reviewed research in the Humanities and Social Sciences, including history, philosophy, literature, art history, cultural and visual studies, archaeology, heritage studies, sociology, political science, economics, psychology, international relations, public administration, social work, media studies, gender studies, and related interdisciplinary fields. The journal strives to promote Art and Designs’ historical, Cultural and interdisciplinary etc., knowledge and policy related research about Pakistan in national, regional and global perspectives. It upholds the principles of academic freedom to create new knowledge and world class research. We also aim to leverage the network of Humanities and social scientists and scholars in the wider field of Art and Design. The journal is putting forth the best of its efforts and potential to explore the political and socio-economic aspects of various issues faced by world community in general and Pakistan in particular.

SCOPE OF THE JOURNAL

 The Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE research journal places special emphasis on original contributions of researchers to the disciplines of Humanities and Social Sciences. The scope of the journal is to promote research which places special emphasis on original contributions of researchers to the disciplines of Art and Design and Humanities. The Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE also scopes to leverage the network of visual artists, architects and design scholars in the wider field of Humanities and social sciences. This perspective helps us to engage the researchers belonging to diverse disciplines in an academic debate and to promote scientific research. We are publishing original work that other researchers will be able to draw upon for years to come.

PEER REVIEWERS’ INFORMATION

Reviewer

Art, Design and Culture (ADAC) follows a rigorous and transparent peer-review process in accordance with the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan to ensure the quality, originality, and integrity of published research.

Selection of Reviewers

Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications, research expertise, publication record, and experience in relevant disciplines within art, design, humanities, and social sciences. Both national and international experts are included in the reviewer panel.

Type of Review

ADAC follows a double-blind peer review process, where the identities of authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Evaluate manuscripts objectively and constructively
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of submitted material
  • Declare any potential conflict of interest
  • Provide timely and detailed review reports

Ethical Standards

Reviewers must adhere to ethical standards and avoid:

  • Use of unpublished material for personal research
  • Bias based on personal, institutional, or ideological grounds
  • Plagiarism or misappropriation of intellectual property

Conflict of Interest

Any reviewer with a potential conflict of interest related to a manuscript must inform the editorial office and decline the review.

Guidelines for reviewers

Reply to our request for review as soon as you can. It would be helpful if you could suggest us alternative reviewers if you are unable to review the requested article.

Confidential Information

If you accept the request, you must consider the manuscript / paper you receive as confidential document. You can’t share contents or any part thereof with any third party without prior permission from the Editor. Since peer review is confidential, you are not supposed to inform anyone about your remarks or reviews.

We will receive your recommendation on prescribed Performa provided by our journal. 

JOURNAL PUBLICATION POLICY AND ETHICS GUIDELINES

According to Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, the detailed SOPs are stipulated in ‘Journals and Publications Policy Document’ which is available at: http://www.hec.gov.pk/site/journals  

PEER REVIEW POLICY AND PROCESS

The research papers processing time from the date of the original manuscript will be as under:

  • Maximum processing time     4 months
  • Minimum processing time      2 months

The Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE will endeavor to assist a resolution to an authorship dispute. Nevertheless, as the research process is undertaken before submitting a manuscript to the Editor of the Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE, it is not possible for the Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE or the Editors to comment on the level of contribution by each author.

If all authors agree to change to authorship on the manuscript, this will be presented as an author’s error. A retraction notice will only be published when requested by all the authors.

PLAGIARISM POLICY

The manuscript must be checked through ‘Turnitin’ software. According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) policy, the similarity index of each research paper must not exceed the limit of =19%. https://www.hec.gov.pk/english/policies/Pages/Plagiarism.aspx

LICENSE AND COPYRIGHT INFORMATION

This is always clearly stated that the articles accepted become the paper property of the University of Home Economics, Lahore.

ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES

The readers as well as contributors can download or re-use any article free of charge for research purposes, for further study or any other non-profitable academic activity.

ARTICLE SUBMISSION CHARGES

The contributors can submit the research papers through online OJS system free of charge. There will be no fees for submission, peer review, plagiarism checks, or proofreading. However, processing charges will apply.

ARCHIVES OF ALL PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED ARTICLES

            For the benefit of author(s) and research community, this journal adopts Open Access Policy which means that author(s) can self archive their published articles on their own web sites or their institutional repositories.

CALL FOR PAPERS

            The University of Home Economics will announce the advertisement through website and social media for submitting the research papers. After completion of the stipulated period, the submission of paper will not be accepted.

RESEARCH ETHICS POLICY 

  • The University of Home Economics expects the editors and reviewers to handle contribution of authors as per policy of confidentiality. Our journal ensures that the research is conducted in a fair and ethical manner.
  • If any submitted manuscript includes false data or fabricated data prior to publication, it will be rejected, and the author will be bound to provide explanation. The journal will refuse papers submitted by author if he/she fails to satisfy the journal.
  • Research involving humans must be approved by relevant bodies and it must confirm international ethical and legal practice.
  • Authors are expected to respect the right of people to privacy. They need to get consent of respondents who contributed ideas, data, and information used for the creation of manuscript / article / paper.
  • Freedom of expression is critical to us as academic publishers. However, our journal does not publish false statements that can harm reputation, of individuals and organization. In case, authors make an error, the journal may rectify and issue corrigendum.
  • The University of Home Economics maintains the principles of research integrity and ethics and standards.

 FAIR PUBLICATION PROCESS

The University of Home Economics encourages editors, reviewers and members of publication staff to adhere to the principles of ethical publishing. We believe in fair and transparent process of publication.

CONTRIBUTORS (PRIVACY STATEMENT)

  • An author must follow appropriate national and international procedures with respect to data protection, rights to privacy.
  • Authors must make available all consent forms and requisite forms from the appropriate regulatory bodies to the editors and publishers at the Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE.
  • The Biannual Research Journal the Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE encourage all authors to demonstrate how their study contributes to the advancement of society.
  • If a study is found to contravene national and international procedures and this is confirmed with the appropriate regulatory body, the Editor the Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE will publish a retraction notice.

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

The Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE committed to dissemination of knowledge and research published in its journal ADAC. The journal facilitates the widest possible dissemination of high-quality research through its open access policy. Through this policy, authors will have open access to make their paper freely available online immediately via the journal website. Readers will not need a journal subscription to view open access content. The aim of this policy is to benefit wider community of scholars, researchers and general readers.

AUTHORS SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE research journal strictly follows the policy of Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. The journal has following guidelines for authors / contributors. The paper may include a certificate of acknowledgment which must confirm that the work presented in his article is solely his own. 

  • Articles belonging to other than the field of Art, Design and Social Sciences will not be considered for publication.
  • The articles should be related to the disciplines of Humanities and social sciences whether they are in the any interdisciplinary context, like Pakistan studies, History, Political science, Public administration, Sociology, Social work, Economics, International relations, Psychology, Media and Gender studies.

Each issue of the Art, Design and Culture Research Journal of UHE will be comprised of only 5 articles for first three. The number of articles per issue may be increased in subsequent publications, subject to editorial policy and HEC guidelines.

  • The articles must be checked through ‘Turnitin’ software. According to HEC policy, the similarity index of each research article must not exceed the limit of 19%.
  • Articles will not be considered for publication, if it has less than 3000 words and more than 6000 words (if without visuals).
  • In case more than one author of the same article, the principal author needs to give following information regarding the contribution of each author:

Principal author: Proposed topic, basic study design, methodology, manuscript writing

2nd author: Data collection, statistical analysis / historical analysis and interpretation of results etc.

3rd author: Literature review and referencing etc.

  1. Contributors are advised to submit well-researched, original and un-published papers.
  2. Only those papers will be accepted which will be submitted through OJS system.
  3. The manuscript must accompany an abstract of 200-350 words.
  4. The manuscript should be written on one side of the page not more than 5 keywords according to HEC criteria.
  5. The manuscript must include: (i) Workable topic, (ii) Abstract, (iii) Keywords, (iv) Introduction, (v) Literature review, (vi) Methodology, (vii) Analysis of data (if required), (viii) Findings (if required), (ix) Conclusion/Recommendations, and (x) References.
  6. The article should contain original thoughts written in lucid English, and in coherent style. The articles will only be accepted if they are (i) written in correct English language, (ii) written according to the standards of academic writing.
  7. The author(s) need to submit hard and soft copies of manuscript.
  8. The manuscript should not include more than four authors.
  9. The decision of Editor / Publication Committee of the Centre regarding publication will be final.
  10. The complete title (in bold CAPITALS) of the research paper with name of the author(s) should be typed in the beginning on a separate sheet.
  11. The title page should have author’s name, institutional affiliation, email address and contact details.
  12. Subsequent pages of the title page should only carry a short title at the top, not the name of the author(s).

 About Formatting

  1. Abstract (i) Font: Times New Roman in 12 points, (ii) Text inside tables should be 10 points, and (iii) Margin: 1 inch
  2. Manuscript: Length of the paper should be preferably between 10-12 pages.
  3. Page size: A5 (5.83 width, 8.27 height)
  4. Line spacing: Single
  5. Footnotes: Do not use any footnotes, footers or endnotes.

About Reference

Full reference(s) should be given in accordance with the American Psychological Association (APA) Style and references as separate section at the end of paper.
